Pike-Inspired Poetry

These are just a couple of poems I wrote when I was obsessed with Christopher Pike books as a teen. They were inspired by his books, but they can pretty much stand on their own.

A Question

What kind of world is this where hatred reigns

And the line is thin between love and obsession?

Why must the innocent pay

By being locked away

In order for us to learn an important lesson?

Why must friends die,

And people lie,

And bodies be rolled away on gurneys?

And at the end of the day the most important thing

Is for suspects to find good attorneys.

Femme Fatale

Heart of steel,

Eyes of stone,

Inbred cruelty embedded in the bones.

Hair like rope,

Words cold as ice,

Yet truly no description could ever suffice.

A lifetime’s worth of anger,

Unleashed and not to be mocked,

For the Grim Reaper is patiently waiting,

His gun aimed and cocked.

The best of friends,

All happy and gay,

Still peek out from behind that curtain.

Hold your desires at bay.
